PORTABLE RECEIVERS
FOR
LF & MF

Follows are some ideas for Portable operations
at 500KC and lower for the purposes of remote
receive capabilities, to implement receive capabilities
and field strength measurements on the Low Frequencies.

The receiver system I chose for these capabilities is the
RYCOM 6040 "Selective Level Voltmeter".

This "SLV" covers 0 - 3.5 Mhz, has AM and LSB and USB capabilities.
It also has audio output to a self contained speaker, as well as a front
panel phone jack for bringing the audio to a computer audio port.
The added convenience of battery powered operation is a PLUS!

The Specs are here in PDF.

NOTE: Currently these batteries are EXPENSIVE!

The rating.

Due to the reasonable price "for me", I decided to get three of the units.
Keeping in mind, they will need to be calibrated, refurbished, and cleaned up.

The serial numbers of the units.

With the purchase of the last unit I acquired the manual for the units, complete w/ addendum.
I will have to scan it in and convert it to PDF soon.

The Rycom 6040 has a built-in charging ciruit for the battery, and battery life
is approximately 8 hours of NORMAL operation.

Power control switch which selects power source, and battery charge/test facility.

Signal input source, and level range select.

Frequency range select, there is a built-in 250 Khz calibrate function.
