THE GREAT POWER-SUPPLY

RESCUE

Round TWO

Well, fortune smiles on the "Dumpster Diver" again! Lo, what light on yonder meter face breaks? What's
this, nice cabinet, might be something in there an old "Ham" might be able to use! Hum, front panel says
Savant, what again? Can't be this lucky twice at the same dumpster, could I?

Well it seems so, as this is another Savant high voltage, and high current (500 MA max) power supply, and
man is it clean. Hasn't been dropped off the back dock, next to the dumpster, like the first one I saved. The
front panel meters say 0 - 5000 VDC at 0 - 300 MADC, there is a timer with a "Hold" position, for constantly
on state for the output. Or you can set it to run for up to 5 hours and turn off the H.V. output. The High voltage
transformer is 6400 volts ac, and no center tap, works into a full-wave bridge, and is controlled by a 30 amp.
variac at 0 - 130 VAC. Oh yes this will be just fine, just fine indeed 5KV at 500MA = 2500 watts, oh yes
this will do just fine.

With Mil-Spec HV connectors and also an interlock connection, to check for the unit covers (RF Deck)
being securely closed. This unit is wired for 115 VAC now but the HV transformer is 115/230 capable.
I think I will use this for testing out the changes I am making to the layout of my 304TL amplifier. It uses
a solid-state10KV 1.5 amp full wave bridge rectifier!

The H.V. transformer is Dual input 115/220
but the Variac is 0 - 130 only @ 30A.

This picture shows the FWB and the
Meter multiplier block in the lower
right hand corner.

I think this is a definite keeper, man heavy though, weighs more than a (Groan) DX-100, lots more. However
I think it will make a useful addition to the workbench power setup. Humm, I am going to need some more
Space!
