BC-610(I)

BC-610-I
This BC-610-I model I received from New Jersey from an Amateur radio operator, not a techie, He had
to get rid of this transmitter because of the sale of his mothers' house where it was being stored. Tabatha
and I drove over to Rumson, N.J. right on the Atlantic ocean and disassembled it and brought it back to
Buffalo where it currently resides in the basement where all the other radio equipment is, its right next to the
"washer and dryer" so guess who gets to do the laundry! During the reassembly phase I checked all the
wiring harnesses to make sure they were ok, and went to the correct places, always a good thing. Tried the
high voltage supply out on a variac before running directly from the A.C. mains.

The "Modulator" transformer had been changed to a strange bird so I replaced it with an original that I had
for another BC-610-I from times gone by. Extensive rewiring had been done to the modulator deck, which
was rewired back to original form and checked for completeness and accuracy per the BC-610 manual. A
really nice job of replacing the number 12 wire with 1/2 inch wide copper strap was done in the 250TH
RF section, however the exciter section had been modified to allow use of an external exciter (HT-37) for
frequency control. After rewiring the exciter portion of the R.F. deck the unit was put back together in the
frame and powered up for testing.

Heres a few pictures of the "Beastie 610" in the New Jersey QTH.......

These are the coils I got with the unit, luckily I have plenty of Plate
Coils for BC-610s as the important coils, 160,80/75,
and 40,20 meters weren't in good shape. heres the originals

Heres pictures of it in my QTH.....

Exciter section, note the METAL 6L6.
