2 Meter Conversions

Solid State

Found (these) this receiver on Ebay, looking all lonely
and with nothing to do!
Very non-descript indeed, and no paperwork
made for an interesting challenge.

So what do you get for a few bucks?

A 19 inch panel, with a few controls, and no line cord.
Ok, we're talking about taking a pack of tooth-picks
and building a boat.
Lets see what happens.

Did I mention NO Paper-work?

Well this is the inside top boards.

A quick check of components gives up plenty of info.
1.) single antenna input for 2 meters @ 50 ohms.
2.) the input board is 1 in and 4 out antenna conn.
which go to 4 separate "Front-End" boards.
Read four channels!
There is also in the lower left corner a 4 channel
audio amplifier and selector.

Turn the chassis over and we have.

Power supply for the units. Also a micro-computer
control board for "Programming the frequency
of each "channel" the chip is the 8051 series.
Oh yeah, 8051 assembly language programming!
I can do this, first disassemble the current code in the '8052'
Then reprogram the freqs I want to Monitor.
What a find!

In order to dis-assemble code in the 8051 series you need one of these
and some software, ahem, never throw anything away!

Of course you also need a Micro-P reader/writer!

Yeah, you have to be able to Disassemble the code, and rewrite it!

That way you can put the 8051 programming on any
frequency from 120 to 170 Mhz.

Oh yeah! Life is good.
