HQ-110
w/Speaker S-100

A real neat story about this receiver setup. It was on E-bay as not operational, I figured "It is a receiver"
it can be repaired. So, I bid on it, just me, and got it for very little. I went to the seller, picked it up and
hauled it back home. It was dusty outside, as per the photo, inside had minor dust also.

So I cleaned it up, checked inside for burnt parts and didn't find any,  Then plugged it into the test bench
variac, and turned it on. The manual tells you to set the switch under the clock to on, so I did, and turned
up the variac, set it at 115 volts and left it to sit for a while. After getting a new cup of coffee, I came back
turned up the rf gain, and put the test antenna on it, and it worked. Yes main tuning and band soread were
right on, the calibrator works, the meter works and the clock also.

Then I figured out what the seller (who had the manual) had done, he tried it with the switch in the off position
the unit didn't come on so he figured it was worth less dollar wise, and put it on the "Bay", cool!

I checked the calibration and also the sensitivity and put it next to the EICO gear as the receiver for my "PW"
stations. I now use it with the EICO 723 and the EICO 720 transmitter setups on low power AM and CW.
I like the sound of the S-100 speaker, and on CW it works just fine, even on 10 meters.

AH, can life get any better?
