To simplify matters before you ask, getting parts for 500 KC work isn't that
difficult to accomplish. What is required is an enquiring mind, a stack of electronics
components literature, and a steady hand (lots of coffee) on the soldering iron.

This means finding the right components that can operate in the regions we want.
Got a power supply from that old computer? That is a good place to start.
It will provide you with just about everything you need to build most of the
TX or RX units, with some exceptions.

An old 300 watt PC power supply will do for a start.

The Case can be reused!

Take all the components you find inside the case and save them for use later,
even the the AC input connector, and fuses.

These power supplies will yield up a great wealth of components,
that can be reused in the making of your 500 KC RX/TX and
test equipment projects.

Careful extraction will yield up a very large stock of usable parts.

Bridge rectifier, and full-wave rectifier.

Full-wave rectifier, and power transistors

Of course there are also heat-sinks.

Lets not forget various toroid coils.
They can in some cases be used as is, or rewound to give the proper inductance
values needed for 500 Kc. work.

These photos are showing some toroids from power
supplies.  Using the Sencore LC53 LC meter, I
can build coils of just about any value.

More parts for the filter
the variable caps are from scrapped BC-610
Tuning units bought at a ham-fest.

The toroid cores came from a different part of the
computer "scrap" the video cable has two of these cores.
