The AD for the original!

The venerable SX-28 receiver. Desirable and a lovely sight
to behold, also something I wanted as the second
receiver for the RCA BTA-1M 1KW Xmtr.
Below are two samples of this fine machine!

The second had the matching R-12 Bass Reflex speaker with it.

Well I was given a heads-up that one was available locally.
Waited for the end time and got it.
This is what I got.

Well I picked it up, and figured, a little cleaning and some tuning and
I would have a fine receiver for the "AM (Broadcast sound) Station"!

BAMA site has The manuals for this "Most Excellent" receiver.
Get all references to the SX-28(*) lots of good info.

Now on to my little adventure of restoring this unit.

Got it to the shop.ready to Survey.

The cabinet needed a little cleaning.
Front view as received.

Left side facing it.

Right side facing it.

The rear view.

The speaker connections, 5000 and 500 ohm terminals.
DC power jumpers, transmit/receive connector (Standby Socket)
and the main AC line cord entrance.

Antenna input and ground, also the rear of the
Bandswitch control mount.

The "Phonograph" input Jack, and S-Meter adjust control.
The jack installed is a Phono connector, need a "Phone" that switches between
radio and external input audio, when the jack is inserted.

Lastly the top view as received.

Well our work lay ahead of us, the process is going to
be straight-forward "Time to Start".
So!

First the cabinet needs to be scrubbed inside and out.

The white knob for the Band Change wasn't painted Just dusty!
the close-up of the front panel says "Clean-Me"!

Front side of knob.

Back side of knob.

Partial cleaning, so far.

When I finish the cleaning, it will be just fine.

The RF tuning compartment top-side.
Dusty/Dirty.

A few dusty tubes also.

The switch on the transformer case is for 115/230 VAC.

Side trim for the cabinet, both sides needs to be straightened.

Right side rear facing. sticking out!

Also left side rear, facing!

A little rust on the cabinet also.
